2023 Original 6 Pack Challenge - Official Tournament Rules

 

  1. Round robin stage 4 games and playoff games are three – 12 min periods. Last 2 minutes in the third period is stop time if the game is within 3 goals.

 

  1. All line changes must be done on the fly. You may change on a whistle under the following situations 1.) A penalty is called 2.) After a goal 3.) During a time out (Each team will have 1 - 30 second time out per game)

 

  1. During round robin play, all tie games will remain tied, and each team will receive 1 point.

 

  1. We use the 5 second face off rule, the referee will count to 5 and then drop the puck whether you are there or not. Any player that does not make it to their side of the face off circle before the puck is dropped can be assessed a delay of game penalty, at the referee’s discretion.

 

  1. Icing will be called on either team, in the last two minute of the 3rd period of any game with a 3 goal or less spread.

 

  1. Playoffs will be determined by the following criteria: 1.) Points 2.) Wins 3.) Head-to-Head 4.) +/-

5.) Least goals against 6.) Goals for 7.)3 player shootout. 

 

  1. Playoffs will be posted on rink wall. 4th vs 5th winner vs 1st, 2nd vs 3rd, 6th straight to asshole cup game.

 

  1. In the event of a goaltender injury, a predetermined goalie decided on prior to the start of the tournament, will be allowed to play. If no goalies are available, you must have someone from your team play net. Taking a player from another team will not be allowed under any circumstance. Easton Brasko is spare goalie. He must play for his team first.

 

  1. If a playoff game results in a tie after regulation time, teams will remain on the same side of the ice as the 3rd period and play 1 – 5-minute overtime period of 4 on 4 hockey. If no goals are scored after 5 minutes, a 3-man shootout will ensue with the higher ranked team having choice of who goes first. If not settled, 1 new shooter will be chosen until a winner is decided. A player may not shoot twice till every player shoots once.

 

  1. Minor penalties are 2 minutes and Major penalties are 5 minutes running time. Time will begin at the drop of the puck. 10-minute penalties will be given to any player that verbally assaults an official - NO EXCEPTIONS; no man advantage will be given.

 

  1. Fighting will result in an automatic game and tournament expulsion and the team will be assessed a 10-minute manpower disadvantage, to be served in its entirety by a player that was on the ice at the time of the infraction. A lifetime ban will also be enforced. The moral is…DON’T FIGHT!

 

  1. All slashes above the waist and cross checks will be an automatic 5 min penalty to be served in its entirety.

 

  1. Anyone shooting the puck away from the ref or down the ice after a whistle will be assessed a delay of game penalty.

 

  1. All referees’ decisions are final.

 

  1. No trades allowed.

 

  1. Helmets are mandatory.

 

  1. No player may play without signing the waiver form before the tournament. Please see www.originalsixpack.com

 

  1. The intention of this tournament is to have fun, and of course, bragging rights! Please try to keep that in mind before doing something that you will regret. THINK IT - DON’T DO IT!

 

  1. Your actions outside the rink and in the hotels are a direct reflection on this tournament, so please be respectful of the businesses and people of Grand forks, Nd
